In «Fresh Myths Different Times», Ulufer Çelik and Merve Kılıçer merge the reading of poems with live and sampled sounds, accompanied by improvised live illustrations by Carmen Jose projected in the space to reflect on past and present events in their homeland. For this edition, they integrate the experiences of the earthquake in Turkey and in Syria in February 2023 into their performance to enable transfer, remembrance and processing of the event in different times. Oral traditions, myths, stories, poems and songs inform their performance, and they activate this knowledge through the means of translation and sound. By confronting pain, trauma, and physical memories, the performance itself becomes a form of myth-making and knowledge-sharing.

(S)LOW FREQUENCIES is a desire of (delaying) time and (situating) space to explore (in conversation) low frequencies and their impact on bodies and spirits. Through experimentation with a synthetiser, guitar, microphone and comfortable spaces, we are interested in shaping sonic land(scape)s. We approach sound making through soft connecting and slowing down as resistance.

The band is formed by Mitsitron, Ester Venema and me from the comfortable space of our livingrooms and the soft connections of our queer dreaming and living. On the 3rd October we will played at Extratonal. We had with us as special guest: dearest Birds WG who was writing while we perform and afterwards performed what was written inspired from the collective soundscape.
